Project implementation area:
The project is implemented in Central Europe, with a particular focus on the Pannonian region, including cross-border and rural areas of Croatia, Hungary and Slovenia.

Project objective:
The objective of the Pannon Future Forest project is to strengthen the capacities of business actors and business support organisations through the establishment of a mentor network and a knowledge hub, with the aim of developing innovative and sustainable business concepts in emerging sectors of the forest-based green economy.
The project contributes to smart specialisation, industrial transition and entrepreneurship development in peripheral and less developed areas of Central Europe.
Planned activities:
- Development of a joint analytical framework and benchmark study on forest-based green economy sectors
- Establishment and capacity building of business support organisations (so-called catalysers) through workshops and knowledge transfer
- Organisation of regional and local roadshow events to engage business actors
- Implementation of a transnational hackathon for the development of pioneering business ideas
- Development and implementation of a mentoring programme and establishment of a mentor network
- Testing and pilot implementation of selected business concepts
- Dissemination of results and establishment of a permanent Knowledge Hub
Expected results:
- An established transnational mentor network in the field of forest-based green economy
- An operational Knowledge Hub with developed educational and mentoring content
- Strengthened capacities of business actors and support organisations
- Developed and tested new business concepts in the fields of sustainable forestry, biodiversity and climate solutions
- Increased regional readiness for the uptake of innovative, knowledge- and nature-based solutions
