Project implementation area:
Republic of Croatia – forest area Siga, management unit Zmajevačke Podunavske forests; Republic of Serbia – forest area Kazuk.

Project objective:
To develop and strengthen research and innovation capacities, as well as to foster the uptake of advanced technologies.
Planned activities:
- Preparation and establishment of the pilot area
- Joint development of solutions for the restoration and protection of the forest ecosystem
- Demonstration of pilot area restoration through the application of an innovative forest restoration solution
- Procurement of modern equipment
- Installation of protective fencing to prevent game damage
- Collection of data from existing sources and advanced field observations
- Training of remote sensing operators (pilots)
- Dissemination of project results
Expected results:
- Development of a joint digital platform for monitoring and protecting the cross-border forest ecosystem
- Capacity building and the use of state-of-the-art equipment for remote monitoring and protection of endangered forest ecosystems
- A validated model for forest ecosystem restoration
- Strengthened cross-border capacities for forest ecosystem restoration and protection through the use of modern technologies and continued cooperation beyond the project duration
