Project implementation area:

Republic of Croatia – forest area Siga, management unit Zmajevačke Podunavske forests; Republic of Serbia – forest area Kazuk.

Project objective:

To develop and strengthen research and innovation capacities, as well as to foster the uptake of advanced technologies.

Planned activities:
  • Preparation and establishment of the pilot area
  • Joint development of solutions for the restoration and protection of the forest ecosystem
  • Demonstration of pilot area restoration through the application of an innovative forest restoration solution
  • Procurement of modern equipment
  • Installation of protective fencing to prevent game damage
  • Collection of data from existing sources and advanced field observations
  • Training of remote sensing operators (pilots)
  • Dissemination of project results
Expected results:
  • Development of a joint digital platform for monitoring and protecting the cross-border forest ecosystem
  • Capacity building and the use of state-of-the-art equipment for remote monitoring and protection of endangered forest ecosystems
  • A validated model for forest ecosystem restoration
  • Strengthened cross-border capacities for forest ecosystem restoration and protection through the use of modern technologies and continued cooperation beyond the project duration
